Who is @krisjoseph? — Struts and Frets: Kris Joseph

Who is @krisjoseph?

Hi twitterer! Thanks for clicking on the URL in my Twitter profile!

You’ve clicked through to my personal web site, which is mostly a front end for my blog, “Struts and Frets”.  I am a professional actor based out of Ottawa, Ontario who — due to a former career in engineering — has a fetish for technology that is matched only by my fetish for silliness and irreverence.  I write about the local theatre community, theatre in general, and my own work experiences.

You can learn more about my background, if you’d like, but here’s the rundown.  I mostly work as a stage actor in Canada (and primarily in Ottawa), and have been fortunate to work with some stellar people. I have made a living as a performer and sometimes-drama-educator for the past two years.  I’ll toot my own horn a bit and say that this is a pretty rare and awesome achievement, especially in Canada.  I am a deeply political person who hates the idea of ‘politics’, and I have a penchant for political theatre.  I am passionate about classical theatre (especially Shakespeare).  I believe in community-building, which is why I keep up on events in the theatre community and serve as the steering committee chair for Ottawa’s Rideau Awards, which I helped to create.  And I’m very curious about how technology, theatre, and the ubiquitous human impulse to tell stories are combined.

I’m always looking for work opportunities outside my home town, as well as new opportunities in other mediums.  My upcoming projects are listed on my web site.

My twitter activity includes:

  • sharing my daily activities, which usually are work-related but sometimes are quite domestic.  I celebrate my cat, my workout routine, my perversity, and my XBOX.
  • play-by-play accounts of rehearsing and performing.  Live tweets from backstage during a show are not uncommon
  • comment on local, provincial, and federal topics of poitical interest

I love connecting with actors, playwrights, producers, theatre lovers, and directors all over the globe, and am always in awe of how small the world truly is.
